Ways to thank your parents on your wedding day

A wedding is a celebration of love and commitment with a lot of preparation beforehand. You will be spending months picking your perfect venue, décor, and the entire ceremony but in the background, it’s your parents who often will be putting in equal efforts in your marriage as you do. It’s hard to find a thoughtful way of thanking them back but we have found a few ways of gratitude.

Consider their experience

While registering, your mother might have mentioned what she would register for if she could do it again today. Take her up on that hint and surprise her with whatever it was she was wishing for. This will be a huge way of saying thank you and she will love it for sure!

Incorporate something from their wedding day

You can incorporate a part of your mother’s gown into your bouquet handle with a meaningful token to it such as a miniature-sized version of your parent’s wedding photo. This will be the best way to have something from your parent’s big day into your own.

Thank them

If cutting up your mother’s wedding gown is not what you want then why not put it on display? Create a living museum by displaying your mother's gown, grandmother's gown, or any other special ladies' dress. Do not forget to add your father’s and grandfather’s wedding outfits too, if it’s still in good shape. This is a great way to dress up for the walk to the ceremony site.

Pass on a gift

You will be showered with gifts and special gestures all day so why not forward it to your closest ones! A hand-embroidered handkerchief with a special message is a lovely gift, as is a special piece of jewelry, such as a necklace or cufflinks.

Ask your photographers to capture candid moments together

Any parent loves a great picture of their child and your wedding is no exception! While creating your shot list for your photographer, collaborate with them to pay homage to Mom and Dad in some way. Such as a picture of you and your groom holding your parents' wedding photos, a "first look" with Dad, and a "last hug" with Mom before you become husband and wife.

Use music

Pay a tribute by using your parent’s wedding playlist as part of your wedding night! Collaborate with your DJ well in advance to help make it a memorable evening for everyone. Let us know - have you considered any of these ideas while planning your wedding celebration?
